MAPL Tapes began as an all-Canadian radio program on Halton Hills Online Radio, created from a simple vision by Leah Hurst, creator and host of MAPL Tapes: to give Canadian artists, musicians, and their stories a place to be heard and celebrated.
What began with that Canadian focus has grown through the voices, friendships, and collaborations that have become part of HHOL. And now, as HHOL expands its reach, MAPL Tapes is growing with it.
Canada will always be at the heart of MAPL Tapes. We remain proud to showcase the incredible depth and diversity of Canadian music, from emerging independent artists to established and timeless voices. But music has a wonderful way of crossing borders, and we believe great artists deserve opportunities to be heard wherever they call home.
MAPL Tapes now extends that spirit of support worldwide, welcoming artists and musicians from around the globe while continuing to shine a special spotlight on Canadian talent.
As host, Leah Hurst brings the music, artists, and stories together each week, sharing both new discoveries and familiar voices while celebrating the connections music creates across communities and borders.
A special thank you goes to curator Bill Smith, whose weekly Featured Artist segment continues to introduce listeners to Canadian music and the people behind it. And, of course, to our “Big Daddy” Russ Horton, whose decades of radio experience and programming continue to help shape the sound of HHOL and MAPL Tapes.

KPHR Radio Hamilton’s Best Classic Rock
KPHR Radio Hamilton launched in 2019 as an online radio station dedicated to classic rock and great music from across the decades. Broadcasting from hamilton, Ontario, KPHR was created to give listeners a place where rock truly lives, featuring timeless tracks, specialty shows, and engaging hosts who celebrate to the spirit of rock and roll. The Pirate – Radio 42 North
Radio42°North is the Pirate of the Great Lakes. Playing hits of yesterday and today. Broadcasting from Lakeshore Ontario, Radio42°North reaches the beaches of Lake St. Clair and beyond. We will also play music from LOCAL and independent artists from the Windsor, Essex County area and SW Ontario!!
Music Box 4 Friends
Musicbox4friends has been online since August 24, 2013. The station had two previous owners before the current one took over in March 2018. We first broadcast using the streaming service Radionomy and then moved to Torontocast. So Musicbox4friends is now an official Canadian station because of our Canadian streaming platform, but it is managed from Belgium.
